K' Reated Transformer

A K-rated transformer is specifically designed to handle the additional stresses caused by non-linear loads, such as those produced by devices like computers, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and UPS systems, which generate harmonic currents. These harmonic currents can lead to overheating and inefficiency in standard transformers, but K-rated transformers are built with enhanced insulation, core designs, and cooling systems to manage the extra heat generated by these harmonics. The K-factor rating (such as K4, K13, K20, etc.) indicates the level of harmonic current the transformer can safely handle. K-rated transformers are commonly used in environments with high electronic load demands, such as data centers, hospitals, and industrial facilities, ensuring the protection and efficient operation of sensitive equipment while preventing damage caused by excessive harmonic distortion.
